How you answer those questions will enhance your audience's view about you or improve their confidence in your product or services. As a professional, you'll be required learn ways to pose relevant questions , but more importantly, how to effectively answer questions.

Before you plunge into answering the question, make sure you're in a state of mind what the question is. It is not a bad idea to start by getting clarity on what's being asked. Inquire politely "I apologize, but I don't seem to comprehend what you're requesting, would you mind rephrasing?" It's better to be more concise at this point than simply blabbing away with no knowledge or clarity. Keep in mind that the purpose of answering questions is for you to contribute to the one who is in search of an answer. Don't be a waste of time. Seek understanding first.

A way to increase your chances of responding to a question in a relevant and objective way is if you give the person asking questions time to complete asking. Some people take their time to specify exactly what they are looking for. When you respond to a question without knowing what has been fully addressed may be insensitive. Do not presume that you know in which direction the question is headed, and you want to help the person to get to the point. If you have time take the time to let the person "ramble" while you take note of key factors. This also allows you time to formulate and come up with the best answer to the question. The ability of listening gives you a high percentage of success for answering questions.

You must determine if you're qualified to answer that issue or is someone else. Is it your right to speak about this topic (journalists can make you vulnerable even when you're not suppose to be the company spokesperson)? What is the depth of your answer be? Silence and breaks in the conversation ensure that you're just making up whatever material you can think of in your mind, but a deliberate answer is on the horizon. It is possible to prepare the person expecting an answer by saying "Let me think about it ..., Let me consider it." ..". This means that the person will not sit and wait thinking you have not heard, you are simply ignoring, etc. This helps to formulate statements that you'll be happy regarding later. You can figure out the best approach to address the issue with wisdom without leaving the person with marks or new wounds.
