A question is a statement that asks for a reply or answer. On a daily basis, it is possible to have questions. Some questions a open ended requiring explanation, elaboration and such, while other questions are closed and only require a Yes or a No. Some people will ask questions that do not necessarily need to be answered but rather for someone else to listen (rhetoric types of questions). It is based on the structure or question being asked, the answer that follows must be in line with what you are trying to find in the question. Most students fail in their exams in no way because they're dull and uninterested but because they are unable to understand what is being asked to them. Inability to explain the question correctly can lead to a wrong action or response. After your presentation, you need to feel comfortable if people have questions. It could be an indication that the audience was engaged during your presentation and the event drew interest from others. The way you respond will boost your audience's opinion of you or increase confidence in your product or services. As a professional you will need learn the art of asking pertinent questions but most importantly how to respond effectively.

Before you start answering a question, be sure you're in the clearest of your mind about what the question is. There is no harm in seeking clarification on the topic being asked. Request politely "I am sorry, you don't seem to be able to comprehend what you're asking What would you like to change?" You'll have a better chance of communicating in this situation than shouting at the top of your lungs with no any clarity, or even understanding. Remember that the essence of answering questions is to contribute positively to the person seeking an answer. Do not waste time. Seek understanding first.

One method that can increase the likelihood of you answering your question in an accurate and objective way is to ensure that you give the person asking the question the time to finish asking. Some people take their time to specify exactly what they are seeking. If you answer a question before it is completely asked could be to be disrespectful. Don't presume you have a clear idea of where the question is headed, and you would like to assist the person reach the goal. If you're on time then let the individual "ramble" while you record key details. It will also allow you time to organize and think of how to best respond to the question. The ability to hear gives an excellent chance to succeed in your responses to questions.

You need to decide if you're qualified to answer this query or if somebody else is.
