The word "question" refers to a statement that solicits for a response or an answer. On a regular basis, there is a chance to being asked questions. Some questions are open ended requiring explanation, elaboration and various other things, whereas some questions are closed and require only to answer with a Yes or No. In other instances, they ask questions that do not require a response , but instead are just an audience to listen to (rhetoric concerns). Ask politely "I am sorry, I'm not sure I grasp what you're asking, would you mind rephrasing?" You'll be more effective in such a situation than just ranting about with no clarity or understanding. Remember that the primary goal of answering questions is for you to contribute positively to the person searching for an answer. Be quick to respond. Seek understanding first.

One method that can increase your chances of responding to questions in a meaningful and objective manner is when you give the person posing the question time before asking. Many people will take the time to define exactly what they want to know. The answer to a query before it is completely asked could be to be disrespectful. Don't believe that you know what direction the person is asking you, hence you need to assist the person reach the goal. If you're short on time take the time to let the person "ramble" while you take note of key points. This also allows you time to gather your thoughts and determine the most effective answer to the question. The ability to listen gives you a high rate of success in answering the questions.

You must determine if you're qualified to answer this question , or if someone else is. Are you authorized to speak on this topic (journalists can be very threatening even if you're legally required to be the spokesperson of the company)? What should the response be? In the meantime, pauses and periods of silence suggest that you're just making up whatever material is in your mind, but a thought out solution is coming. You can help the person waiting for to answer you by telling them "Let me think ..., let me think." ..". The person will do not just sit and think you have not heard You are merely ignoring the person who is waiting for you to answer. Being able to think through the issue helps to make statements that you'll not be regretting on later. You can figure out the best method to reply with wisdom without leaving the person with wounded or new wounds.
