The word "question" refers to a statement asking for a answer or an answer. On a regular basis, you are able to inquire about questions. There are questions that are open-ended asking for explanations, explanations, and etc., while other inquiries are closed requiring just an answer of a yes or no. There are instances where people ask questions that don't necessarily call for a response, but rather to get someone's attention (rhetoric issues). The structure of the question, the answer that follows must address what they are looking for in the first place. There are many students who fail exams not because they're dull or uninterested, but because they don't comprehend the task being asked to them. The failure to convey the issue correctly leads to incorrect action or response. After an appearance, you'll be pleased when people have questions. It could be a sign that people were engaged by the presentation and the presentation attracted the attention of others. The way you respond to those questions will enhance your audience's view of you or increase their confidence in your company's product or services. As a professional, you'll need to master your art of asking relevant queries, but you will also need to know how you can answer them effectively.

Before you get started on answering questions, ensure it is clear in your mind about what the question is. There is no harm in asking questions to clarify what's being asked. Inquire politely "I apologize, but I'm unable to get what you're saying, would you mind rephrasing?" You will communicate better by doing this rather than shouting at the top of your lungs with no knowledge or clarity. The purpose behind answering questions is give a meaningful contribution to the person seeking answers. Be quick to respond. Seek understanding first.

Another way to boost your ability to answer the question in a timely and objective manner is if you give the person asking the question time to finish asking. Many people will take the time to elaborate on what they want to convey. When you respond to a question without knowing what is completely asked could be as if you're being disrespectful. Don't think you know in which direction the questions are taking and therefore are trying to help to understand the question. If you're on time you can let the person "ramble" while you note important things. It will also allow you time to organize and think of your best solution to the question. The ability to listen will give you a high rate of success in the answer to questions.

You have to establish if you are competent to answer the question or someone else is. Have you been authorized by the company to speak on the subject (journalists could be a source of trouble even though you're not required to be the spokesperson of the company)? What should the response be? Silence and breaks in the conversation let you know that you're not simply producing any unstructured substance you've got in your mind but a clearly thought out answer is in the pipeline. You can actually prepare the person who is waiting for an answer by declaring "Let me think about it ..., Let me look around." ..". The person will take a break from thinking there is nothing you've heard and you're just ignoring etc. Being able to think through the issue helps in coming up with suggestions that you'll feel good regarding later. You can assess the best approach to address the issue with wisdom without leaving the person with bruises or fresh wounds.
