A question is a question that demands a response or answer. Every day, you are able to being asked questions. Some questions a open ended requiring explanation, elaboration and such, while other questions can be closed by requiring one answer: Yes or No. Sometimes, people ask questions that do not have to be answered, but just for someone to hear (rhetoric questions). It is based on the structure and the nature of the inquiry, the response that follows must address what the questioner is seeking. Many students fail their tests and not due to being dull or uninterested, but because they don't be aware of what is asked of them. A failure to present the problem correctly leads to incorrect action or response. After a presentation, you must feel good if people do inquire about your presentation. It could indicate that people were engaged by your presentation and that the event drew interest from others. Your response to these questions will help improve the impression your audience has on you or increase their confidence in the quality of your product or services. As a professional, you'll need to master the art of asking relevant questions , but more importantly, how to effectively answer questions.

Before you decide to answer questions, ensure you're in the clearest of your mind about what the question is. It is not a bad idea to start by getting clarity on what's being asked. Try asking politely "I am sorry, you don't seem to get what you're saying Would you mind changing the way you phrase it?" You will communicate better in such an instance than just ranting about with no clarification or understanding. Keep in mind that the purpose of answering questions is for you to make a contribution to the person trying to find an answer. Avoid wasting time. Seek understanding first.

Another way to boost your efficiency in responding to the question in a meaningful and objective way is to ensure that you give the person asking you the question to finish asking. Some people take their time to specify exactly what they are looking for. Being able to answer a problem before it is fully asked may seem rude. Don't assume that you know the direction the person is asking you, hence you need to assist the person to clarify the issue. If you're time-bound then let the individual "ramble" while you note important elements. It gives you time to make sense of and consider the most effective answer to the question. The ability to listen provides an excellent chance to succeed in answering the questions.

It is your responsibility to determine whether you're qualified to answer this questions or someone else does. Can you legally talk on this topic (journalists can make you look bad even if you are not supposed to be to the company's spokesperson)? How deep should the answer be? Moments of silence and pauses ensure that you're just churning up any substance you've got in your mind but a clearly reasoned out answer is on its way. It is possible to prepare the person expecting an answer by saying "Let me think ..., Let me look around." ..". That way the person does not sit and wait thinking you've missed something, you are simply ignoring, etc. It also allows you to formulate statements which you'll regret in the future. You can determine the best way to answer with wisdom without leaving the person with marks or new wounds.
