You'll be able to express yourself better in such situations than talking in a rambling manner with no clearness or comprehension. Remember that the essence of answering questions is to make a positive contribution to the person in search of an answer. Don't be a waste of time. Seek understanding first.

A way to increase your chances of responding to your question in an accurate and objective way is if you allow the person asking you the question to finish asking. Some people take time to clarify exactly what they are seeking. The answer to a query before it is fully asked may seem unprofessional. Don't think you have a clear idea of where the question is taking, therefore you should assist the person to get to the point. If you're time-bound allow the individual to "ramble" while you take note of the most important elements. This gives you time to make sense of and consider the most effective answer to the question. The ability to listen will give you a high success rate in your answering of questions.

You need to decide if you are qualified to answer this questions or someone else does. Is it your right to speak about the subject (journalists can be very threatening even if you're legally required to be the spokesperson of the company)? What is the depth of your answer be?
